Urban Elysees: A Modern and Luxurious Residential House

Transforming Wine Cabinets into Art Showcases

Located in Taipei city, Urban Elysees is a residential house designed by Han Chung Liu and Yu Shan Liu. Inspired by the owners' passion for wine collecting, the designers turned ordinary cabinets into elegant art showcases, adding value to the space and enhancing the quality of life.

Urban Elysees stands out with its unique features and strengths. The use of a large amount of gray color adds comfort and spaciousness to the home. The walls, built with wire brushed wood, not only enrich the look of the house with their rich texture but also maintain consistency and unity in style. In the public areas, the gray and white marble flooring visually enlarges the space and creates a modern ambiance.

The realization of this design involved the use of various materials and technologies. Marbles were utilized to add spaciousness, brightness, and luxury to the spaces. Wire brushed wood created elegance and serenity. Iron accent pieces contributed to the modern and calm ambiance. Special paints were used to add artistic effects to the spaces, providing a natural and safe environment. Additionally, mosaic tiles with a stainless steel surface were used to give a unique look to the spaces.

Technical specifications were carefully considered in the design process. Accurate measurements of different wine bottle sizes were taken to calculate the average, allowing for an increased cabinet size that can store more wine bottles. A well-designed electrical power distribution system was implemented to create a level-up wine cooler with even temperature distribution, suitable for different types of wines.

Urban Elysees offers a variety of spaces and functionalities. The 2,064 square feet house includes three rooms, two bathrooms, and a balcony. In the public areas, the wine cabinets allow the owners to store and display their collection as they wish. The kitchen island can be used as a mini bar, providing a space for the owners to enjoy wine and engage in conversations. A custom chandelier above the dining table symbolizes "One Family One Heart." In the private areas, a study room allows for focused work and study, while a glass wall minimizes the distinction between areas. The spacious guest bathroom provides a comfortable experience, and the master bedroom features a private bathroom with two basins for maximum convenience. The balcony, located on the 15th floor, has been transformed into a rest area where the owners can enjoy the street scenes and feel energized.

The design project for Urban Elysees started in September 2020 and was completed in February 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan. Extensive research was conducted to integrate the home with its surroundings. The result is an elegant, luxurious, and modern interior design that symbolizes the abundance and advanced features of the city.

Urban Elysees has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
